"Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham

"Skipping Christmas"
    by John Grisham

Snack of choice:
Pizza and Pepsi

Story behind the story:
I bought this book at the Crandall Library Book sale for $1.

Story Line:
A couple decide that instead of blindly throwing away money for "Christmas," they would rather invests in a cruise that leaves Christmas day. The world is not so thrilled with this decision.

The Real Story:
I have to say, the idea really appealed to me. I'm not so thrilled about wreckless spending, and who doesn't love a cruise? But ultimately it's about a community coming together, in a lot of ways, but mostly to mess up the "Kranks" plans ("creative" name supplied by Grisham). Don't you have neighbors like that? It's not a stellar book. It's not a bad book either. It's just that obligatory Christmas story that ends with an obligatory smile. John Grisham is no doubt a master of his genre, but this is not that genre.

Check out:
"The Summons", "A Painted House", "Bleachers"
and as a Christmas alternative try Luke 2

Special thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishers for providing the reading material.

Purchase this book from my link and I could get up to 15%, but little as .002%

An INTRODUCTION

I'm very excited about my new venture into the great unknowns of the blogging industry. If you are looking for frequent updates...this is not the blog for you. If you are looking for pictures of my family and unborn children... sorry you've got the wrong place.

The Living Room Couch is the place I like to lay out and read a good book. Might be with a cup of coffee and some great reading glasses, or maybe a Mountain Dew and popcorn. Maybe it's for class, maybe it's for work, or maybe it's for a free book. Who knows, but I hope you will enjoy it.

Shout out to Patti... Oh right... said I wasn't going to do that!
